INTRODUCTION TO ENGINEERING DESIGN
Students dig deep into the engineering design process, applying math, science, and engineering standards to hands-on projects. They work both individually and in teams to design solutions to a variety of problems using 3D modeling software, and use an engineering notebook to document their work.
Reverse Engineering Project
I deconstructed a common household device (a stapler). All 13 parts was modeled in Autodesk inventor. In addition, each piece was measured and an IDW created so that the CAD model's for each piece were to scale. An assembly was created to show how the object fits back together and functions.
CHESS PROJECT
In this project I employed parametric equations and CAD skills to design and model a chess set using Autodesk Inventor. Each piece was had a derived base, so that they were identical. An assembly was created using copies of each unique piece and the chess board they sit on. I created engineering drawings for the pieces in order to show the dimensions for each.
