AGILE PROJECT MANAGEMENT
In order to have a smooth and successful capstone engineering project, my team and I utilized agile project management. This system of design and development utilizes a variety of methods to ease communication and maximize work-flow. These include:
- Task Boards that show a live update of what needs to be done and its length, within a two week time period.
- Gantt Charts that map out what is being accomplished over the long term and all upcoming duties.
- Stand Up Meetings each morning to discuss what was accomplished by each team member, go over upcoming deadlines, and plan ahead.
LEAN PROJECT MANAGEMENT
A subset of Agile, Lean aims to maximize the output of a project while minimizing resources and time. This method involves concepts such as a Minimum Viable Product statement (MVP) and a Unique Value Proposition (UVP). Our team used each to help define the goals of our product.
- UVP - The reTurn Compost Tumbler is the only autonomous outdoor composting system on the market. It completely takes strenuous labor out of the composting process while still providing high quality compost.
- MVP - A device that autonomously and completely turns 50 lbs of compost. The solution provides easy access to the finished compost and meets all safety/sound standards.
